Happy 30th to me!

So it turns out that when you try to delete Instagram and Facebook, they keep your account open for another month, to give you the chance to change your mind. Apparently, despite me downloading all of my personal data and deleting both accounts this morning, I will be visible on them until the 15th of December. If I logged in to either account within that time, it would automatically renew my profiles from where I left them.

Insidious little bastards!

It's another thing that makes me more certain than ever that I want out. The desperation to keep me glued to their endless ad machine is pathetic and palpable. It gave endless options to change my mind. Why are you leaving? You know you could just change your notification settings, right! We'll stop emailing you! We have wellness tools! Please stay! I kept clicking. Yes, delete. Yes, I'm sure. Yes, for real, I'm certain. Delete. Please delete! Yet still, they wont follow through on my request for a month, in case I cave and come crawling back! Gives me the creeps. Creepy lil Zuck, hiding out in my phone for another month, biding his time. Yuck.

I humbly acknowledge the owners of the land on which I live and write, the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. Always Was, Always Will Be.
